The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a global surge in surveillance activities. Governments all over the world are deploying technological tools for tracking and tracing the citizens to prevent the spread of the virus. This article argues that the need for surveillance cannot be negated or undermined. However, it is important to rethink the surveillance framework and incorporate appropriate checks and balances in place to ensure accountability and to prevent harm.
